A system approach to biogas technology

چکیده
A system approach to biogas technology from "Biogas technology: a training manual for extension" (FAO/CMS, 1996) Biogas technology is a complete system in itself with its set objectives (cost effective production of energy and soil nutrients), factors such as microbes, plant design, construction materials, climate, chemical and microbial characteristics of inputs, and the interrelationships among these factors. Brief discussions on each of these factors or subsystems are presented in this section. Biogas This is the mixture of gas produced by methanogenic bacteria while acting upon biodegradable materials in an anaerobic condition. Biogas is mainly composed of 50 to 70 percent methane, 30 to 40 percent carbon dioxide (CO2) and low amount of other gases as shown in Table 1.

Biogas Technology, Applications, Perspectives and Implications
The major purpose of this study was to examine the advantages and implications of biogastechnology in the agriculture sector. Biogas is one of many biomass energy sources, which includeanything that was once alive and that can generate energy (except for fossil fuels, which are notrenewable). To talk of biogas is to talk of agriculture, since biogas generation starts withagricultural waste prod...
متن کاملMaking Decision Support System for Utilization of Biogas in Iran
The use of renewable energy sources is often suggested to be a good solution for climate change and the dependency to fossil fuel. Biogas utilization is a one of these promising options that can mitigate these problems since biogas is produced by the fermentation of waste, so is rich in methane and has the same characteristics as natural gas. Biogas has increasingly been noticed in different co...
متن کاملEvaluation of Biogas as an Alternative Driving Force of Electrically Operated Vehicles: A Case Study
In the present world, energy is indispensable for maintaining the comfort level and living standard of the human. On the other hand, the energy crisis is a major problem in most of the developing countries like Bangladesh. A possible reason is that, the decreasing level of conventional energy sources and the lack of initiatives for introducing the alternative sources of energy. Moreover, the in...
متن کاملUtilization of CO2 fixating bacterium Actinobacillus succinogenes 130Z for simultaneous biogas upgrading and biosuccinic acid production.
Biogas is an attractive renewable energy carrier. However, it contains CO2 which limits its use for certain applications. Here we report a novel approach for removing CO2 from biogas and capturing it as a biochemical through a biological process. This approach entails converting CO2 into biosuccinic acid using the bacterial strain Actinobacillus succinogenes 130 Z, and simultaneously producing ...
متن کاملEstimation and Modeling of Biogas Production in Rural Small Landfills (Case Study: Chaharmahaal and Bakhtiari and Yazd Rural Areas)
One of the main factors contributing to greenhouse gas emissions in the environment is the production of pollutant gases in landfills. Collecting the landfill gases (LFG) effectively reduces the emission of gasses from the landfill site. A precise collection system for LFG can create the potential for energy generation in addition to emissions reduction. However, in Iran, the implementation of ...
